Abstract:

The major aim of this research was to investigate psychometric properties of "NEO-Five Factor Inventory" ((NEO-FFI)). To this aim, after doing preliminary stages and resolving possible problems, the exploration of this scale was conducted in two studies: in the first study, in order to assess reliability using internal consistency, 604 undergraduate students of Tehran, Amirkabir and Shahed Universities (334=female and 270=male) with average age of 21.8 (sd=2.49) were selected by available sampling method. Students completed (NEO-FFI). Results of this study indicated that Neuroticism and Conscientiousness had acceptable internal consistency in all subjects (higher than 0.70). Of course, Cronbach Alfa of Extroversion and Agreeableness were higher than suggested level for group comparisons (higher than 0.5). Therefore, only openness lacked acceptable internal consistency. In the second study, in order to assess construct validity of (NEO-FFI), Pearson's product-moment correlation was calculated for five factors of (NEO-FFI) and 9 facets of "Symptom Checklist-90- Revised" (SCL-90-R). Results of these analyses indicated that Neuroticism with all facets of SCL-90-R, Conscientiousness with all facets of SCL-90-R with the exception of paranoid thinking (Bonferroni correction not considered) and obsessive-compulsive facets (Bonferroni correction considered), Agreeableness and Extroversion with 3 and 7 facets of SCL-90-R (Bonferroni correction considered) had significant correlation. Openness did not show any significant correlation with facets of SCL-90-R. Besides, among these factors, only the relationships of Neuroticism with facets of SCL-90-R was a significant positive correlation and the remaining factors had not significant correlation or had significant negative correlation with facets of SCL-90-R. In conclusion, results of this study with respect to literature review about investigating psychometric properties of (NEO-FFI) in non-English cultures suggest need to investigate factor structure of this in Iranian population.

Abstract:

The main purpose of this research was to study the hierarchical structure of personality by using the NEO-Five Factor Inventory ((NEO-FFI)). This research Was a descriptive-correlational. The statistical population included Isfahanian couples. From this population, 522 available persons (261couples) were selected. The (NEO-FFI) was used for collecting the data. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used for studying the factor structure of the (NEO-FFI) by using Amos18. The results showed that the (NEO-FFI) has a great reliability and validity. The studying of the measuring model revealed that the Big Five Factors of personality went to the Big Two and then to the Big One. The first second order factor, Stability, includes Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, and Agreeableness. Another second order factor, Plasticity, consists of Openness and Extraversion. GFP explained 61% of the variance of stability and 94% of the variance of plasticity. GFP occupies the top of the hierarchical structure of personality.

Abstract:

Objectives: In view of the existing methodological drawbacks in the previous investigations of NEO-Personality Inventory-Revised, the present study aimed at reinvestigating the construct validity of this inventory in Iran.Method: 334 students 231 female and 98 male, 5 not specified) with a mean age of 23.1 were selected via convenience sampling from Tehran, Elm-o-Farhang and Shahid Beheshti Universities, and completed NEO-Personality Inventory-Revised. Inclined rotation and parallel analysis was used for exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: Exploratory factor analysis resulted in the extraction of five factors, which altogether accounted for 59.25 percent of the total variance of the data. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, a noticeable number of cross-loads and wrongly loaded subscales were observed. Confirmatory factor analysis also resulted in weak to moderate fit indexes. Conclusion: Considering the results of the present study and with regard to the medium and weak alpha coefficients in the Garousi Farshi study, the primary applicability of this questionnaire in the Iranian culture is questionable. It seems that factor analysis at the level of characteristics could be helpful.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the Structural equation modelling of couples’ satisfaction based on five factor neo personality components by the mediating role of mother-child Relationship. This research was applied in terms of purpose and correlational in terms of descriptive method. The statistical population included sixth grade students of boys and girls primary schools in Shiraz city in 2017 along with their mothers that among them, 260 people were selected as a sample by cluster random method from the nine educational districts of Shiraz city. In order to collect data from NEO Personality test (1992), ENRICH Couple Scale (1989) and Fine, Moreland and Schwebel’s (1983) parent-child relationship were used. Data analysis was performed by Pearson correlation and structural equation modelling. Findings showed significant negative correlation between neuroticism and couples’ satisfaction but positive correlation with extraversion, openness experience, agreeableness and conscientiousness. Also, the mother-child relationship variable predicts couples ‘satisfaction in a positive direction. Personality traits, as the preconceived forms of engagement by individuals in marital relationships affect the mediating structures including the mother child relationship. Therefore, couples’ satisfaction affected by intrapersonal factors in particular personality traits. The results also revealed that personality trait components with mediating role of mother-child relationship have the capacity to determine marital satisfaction (P≤ 0/01).

Abstract:

Purpose of the present study was to comparison study Personality characteristics among opium, heroin drug dependency, smoking and non-smoking participants in Marvdasht. In this retrospective study, 50 opioid dependent, 50 heroine drug dependency participants were selected by purposive method and,  50smoking and 50 non-smoking individuals, who were matched on the basis of age and education with drug dependency participants were selected by random sampling method, and assessed using the questionnaire of the Neo personality five agents. The five hypotheses were tested by multivariate analysis of variance. Results showed that there were significant differences between four groups with respect to personality types (neuroticism, extroversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness), except for agreeableness. These findings indicated that personality types are different among four groups (non-smoking, smoking ,opium-heroine drug dependency).
